{"id":255,"date":"2014-10-02T14:26:24","date_gmt":"2014-10-02T21:26:24","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.tillmansmiles.com\/blog\/?p=255"},"modified":"2016-06-09T19:45:35","modified_gmt":"2016-06-09T19:45:35","slug":"how-to-get-your-kids-to-brush-their-teeth-and-like-it","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.tillmansmiles.com\/blog\/2014\/10\/02\/how-to-get-your-kids-to-brush-their-teeth-and-like-it\/","title":{"rendered":"How to get your kids to brush their teeth and like it"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Getting<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-thumbnail wp-image-256\" title=\"kid brush teeth\" src=\"https:\/\/www.tillmansmiles.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/kid-brush-teeth-150x150.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" \/><\/a> your kids to brush their teeth, yet alone like it, can be tricky.\u00a0 We have some tips that might help you to get your kids brushing and like it!!<\/p>\n<p>Dr. Tillman recommends that you choose a small, child-sized, soft-bristled toothbrush.\u00a0 Soaking the brush in warm water for a few minutes before brushing can soften the bristles even more.\u00a0 Use a pea sized amount of fluoride toothpaste.<\/p>\n<p>Monkey See Monkey Do: Modeling good behavior is one of the best ways to get your kids excited about brushing their teeth instead of thinking it&#8217;s a chore. \u00a0When you brush your teeth, be happy that you&#8217;re doing it. \u00a0If Mom and Dad make it look like fun, the kids will want to do it too. \u00a0Let them copy you. \u00a0Buy them the same color toothbrush as you have, or try an electric one, which may be more entertaining for them. \u00a0Let them try brushing your teeth and then you can brush theirs to make sure they&#8217;re actually clean.<\/p>\n<p>Give them a good story: Talk about why we need to brush \u2013 how the sugar bugs make holes in our teeth if we don&#8217;t brush them away. \u00a0Sometimes kids need a reason or a good story to get on board.<\/p>\n<p>Make bubbles: Encourage them to create lots of bubbles \u2013 that means they&#8217;re brushing well.\u00a0 You could hold a bubble-making contest with your kids to see who can create the most bubbles.<\/p>\n<p>Make sure to bring your kids in for their routine check ups and cleanings and our hygienists can help encourage the kids\u00a0with good brushing habits!<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Getting your kids to brush their teeth, yet alone like it, can be tricky.\u00a0 We have some tips that might help you to get your kids brushing and like it!!
